Waffles on deck!

It has been said breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Hmm.

Do they still say that? Haha

Some mornings are hurried with just enough time to grab-and-go. On days when time is not a luxury, we can relax, sit back and feast. For us there’s a place that always helps start our day off on the right foot.

At Spoons Cafe, the name alone evokes a sense of home-cooked goodness that reminds us of Grandma’s kitchen. Simple, fresh and yummy, this local, spacious, yet cozy eatery has long been a favorite of ours.

They serve up a variety of deliciousness – huge pancakes, perfect bacon, migas, generous sandwiches, chicken salad, meatloaf, baked spaghetti, soups and scratch-made pastries and sweets, Spoons has something everyone will enjoy. A recent addition is Happy Hour. Um. Yay!

Oh. We were talking about breakfast, right? Check out what’s typically on our table when it comes to am dining, piping hot black tea, waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, add a side of bacon. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is clean and yummy. The atmosphere is chill and inviting. It’s a win-win-win!

Let’s break down this plate, shall we.

First, the waffle is fluffy and light, yet filling. The strawberries and whipped cream are always on point. Hot syrup does it for us. The butter. Oh, this is where it gets really good. That little unassuming container is a homemade concoction infused with cinnamon. Yes, please. Or, as our boys like to say, when something is especially good, “Mas, por favor!” Though, not the star of the show, the bacon was even more tasty this time. Not sure how they managed to make something even better that was already the best!

So, this is the kind of place where you might spend an eternity studying the menu because there’s so much goodness. Yet, we’ve tried to do our part by at least making a strong case for breakfast. Whenever you go, we’re sure you’ll eat well.

Know Before You Go:

+Though we highlighted breakfast, which is served ALL day long, Spoons will fill your belly for lunch and dinner, too. Psst. Meatloaf.

+ This could easily be the beginning of an afternoon or evening on McKinney’s Historic Square. Set aside some time to walk around after you dine.

Spoons sounds like such a great find!! I love places like this. I’m not a big breakfast maker but I will definitely indulge when someone else is behind the stove. A good waffle can be hard to find but it looks like Spoons has helped make that search a lot easier!
